Midland Combination Challenge Bowl Semi Final Second Leg
The Mikes Reserves put their disappointing Smedley Crooke Cup defeat behind them, responding in the best way possible with a superb victory over league leaders Chasetown in the semi final of the Challenge Bowl.
A battling performance at the Scholars in early February had established a 3-2 first leg lead. The Mikes started well and built on their lead with first half goals through Tom Law and Johaine Thompson.
Chasetown threw everything at the Mikes in the second half, but were unable to break through until the last quarter, reducing the arrears through Jack Scandrett.
The Response was swift, with Law releasing Thompson to power through and seal a final berth against Quorn Reserves, with the date and venue to be decided.
Joint Manager Rob Clarke was delighted “The response after Saturday was superb. You could see the intensity in the lads from the warm up. We rode our luck at times and they had chances, but we looked a threat all night.”
