In the summer of 2008, Boldmere St. Michaels celebrate our 125th anniversary as a football club. Over the years our club history has been fragmented and often reduced to paragraphs in a match day programme or on website pages. Author Michael Talbot has pieced our 125 year of history in this fabulous publication.
Since formation in 1883 there have been literally hundreds of players who have represented the `Mikes`. This book captures a feeling of a bygone age through eyewitness accounts by former Managers, players and supporters. It chronicles when Boldmere won a competition European competition in 1939, years before Glasgow Celtic and Manchester United won the European Cup. Mick accounts the `Golden Generation` of our 1948 Boldmere team who played in front of thousands of fans, home and away and reached the semi-finals of the F.A. Amateur Cup when they played Barnet at Arsenal’s Highbury Stadium in front of 27,000 fans.
The book also covers our Midland Combination Championship winning sides of the 1980`s and the successive Walsall Senior Cup victories!
